It's not like she wasn't expecting this.
She was staying in Lima. And she'd been sleeping with Noah on and off for the past month. After that little confession in his bedroom the second time, he'd woken her up just like he promised and...she'd kind of been distracted the rest of the day. And afterwards, once she'd had time to think about it, she decided that she was twisting his words. This was Noah Puckerman they were talking about. He didn't speak in riddles and he was generally against relationships. But when he wanted one, he would come right out and ask, like he had with Lauren and Mercedes and even her the first time around. If he dropped the subject that day, then he'd obviously meant something else.
And Rachel would be lying if she said that didn't make her feel a little better. Neither of them were expecting anything the other couldn't offer and it was...it was good. Things were good. They didn't go out of their way to meet, but he seemed to always know when she'd need him. When she'd lost out on a solo to Quinn, she'd found him leaning against her car afterwards. Or when her phone buzzed, Noah popping up on screen when she was trying (and failing, though she'd never admit it) to get this one move right in the choreography for Glee.
So tonight, when she really needs him (and maybe not even for sex. Maybe she really wants to cry and scream and yell for a moment), she sits on her bed and cries for an hour, honest to God sure that Noah will be calling any moment. When she finally gets up, sneaks out and drives to his place, it's 1 in the morning. Somehow, she doesn't think he'll mind.
