"Somewhere there's a place for us."

"Well I said there wasn't!"

She'd meant the song. Not that Rachel really cares. It's a great song, but what does...that woman, what right does she have to be back here, now? What right does she have to just waltz back into Rachel's life, Rachel's space like that?! They'd said their goodbyes--well, Shelby had. Shelby had ended it all and that was just fine with Rachel until now--but now she thought it was okay to just come and stand right in Rachel's face with pictures of Beth, of a daughter that she'd kept and loved and...and had left Broadway for (because she didn't want to miss her first steps or words or things that she'd never seen from Rachel) and she was just going to act like...what? Like she cared about being in Rachel's life now? Like Rachel was just another student? Or was she going to pretend like Rachel just didn't exist?

And what about Noah?

That's where she was headed now, to his house. She takes a sharp left, pulling her little yellow bug into his driveway and fairly stomping up to the front door, knocking. Her hands are shaking too bad to dial his phone number.
